The Challenge

The product needed to fit the needs of user with Osteoarthritis

The main objective of this design project is to create a digital pain management platform that is patient-centered, and tailored to the unique needs of chronic pain sufferers.

Problem Statement: Chronic pain sufferers believe that the healthcare system does not provide them with personalized pain management solutions that focus on the root causes of pain, improve their quality of life, and enhance their pain literacy.

The design team will need to address issues related to cultural diversity, user engagement, personalized care, and patient education. The stakeholders involved include the design team, development team, healthcare professionals, pain advocacy groups, and chronic pain sufferers.

The main risks are the need to build trust with patients, ensure cultural sensitivity, and provide accurate and reliable information to patients.

Research

The main goal was to understand problems faced by chronical pain suffers

As this healthcare app and needed special medical expertise to talk with user , research team was working on this for last 6 months

Qualitative user research was done by DCA team (external team)

To address these needs, the team initially decided to include journaling and pain visualization as the main features of the app.

After qualitative research was done by DCA team , we decided to launch quantitative research using survey questions

Research Synthesis

Haleon - DCA - AKQA workshop

After benchmarking the main features such as : coaching , connect , journaling and community , learning about the problem, we decided to do workshop with research team and client product team to finalize the user flow for the new UX/UI overhaul of the product.

Features list

After understanding the user flow and synthesizing the research, I began to write the complete feature list of the product specifications

Wireframes

Once the feature list was valided by project PM and client , I started working on wireframes for the app.

Output of quantitative research

A complete UX/UI overhaul of Alvie : Pain Management app .

User Interface Design

Currently the design is in development phase

Restrospective

One of the best projects I ever worked on ..

From conducting user research to finalizing the user interface design, I was involved in the entire project. The main challenge we faced was catering to the needs of users with osteoarthritis and ensuring their accessibility. To achieve this, we incorporated voice commands into the user interface design. Additionally, we prioritized one activity per screen to avoid overwhelming the user. Given that the target age range was between 50-60, we opted for email sign-up. I translated user insights into relevant product features to ensure a seamless user experience.
